Synopsis

SEAWIFS CAPTURES VIEWS OF NORTHERN AND EASTERN AUSTRALIA G00-085 9/15/00 00:24:24A visual tour of Australia.

TAPE CONTENTS:

ITEM (1): Coastal Tour of Australia - On Friday Sydney welcomes the world as the 2000 Olympic Games officially open when the cauldron in the Olympic Stadium is finally lit. 11,000 people have carried the Olympic torch across 17,000 arduous miles to reach its final destination. Its journey is being billed "as the longest relay race in the history of the modern Olympic era." In an historic first, the torch even went scuba diving with a diver on the Great Barrier Reef, one of Australia's greatest natural wonders. Sit back and let NASA take you on a stunning "Olympic" coastal tour of Australia from Space. Seen by NASA's Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) on the OrbView-2 satellite, the mosaic captures Australia in all her glory.

This visualization was enhanced and rendered at the Scientific and Visualization Studio (SVS) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD.
